- Corrected calcium — an adjusted figure that accounts for albumin (a blood protein), giving a more accurate reading than the raw calcium value.
- Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) — an enzyme found in bone and liver. Higher levels can reflect increased bone turnover, among other causes.
- Vitamin D — needed to absorb calcium properly; low levels are very common in the UK and affect bone health.

Abnormal results are interpreted together rather than one at a time. For example, a raised calcium with other changes may prompt a check of parathyroid hormone, while a low vitamin D with normal calcium is common and often straightforward to address.
